Baby eagle livestream update

In an earlier post we shared links from explore.org to livestreams of birds and animals across the world. One of the most interesting links was of these baby eagles.

Have these birds grown! They are “teenagers” now and are preparing for their first flight. If you’re lucky, you can see them practice by spreading their wings and running across the nest. Their wingspans are already impressive. See them here.

In the distance, you will often see one of the parents perched on a branch, guarding the nest and searching with its “eagle eye” for fish in the stream far below.

When will these nearly-grown birds leave the nest?

You can read more about eagles and other birds in these Flipster magazines. Here’s how: visit https://chescolibraries.org/downloads and scroll to Flipster to sign in with your library card.

Clean Slate & Expungement Workshop

Announcing the free Clean Slate and Expungement workshops by Coatesville Center for Community Health on Tuesday, June 9 at 4 pm.

The Clean Slate and Expungement Workshops are designed to help those individuals with criminal histories who may have been denied employment or other services because of their criminal record.  An attorney from Legal Aid of Southeastern PA will conduct the workshop where participants will learn about the clean slate and expungement process, if they might be eligible, and learn how to proceed.  The attorney will meet individually with each participant to review their criminal record.

A copy of the criminal record can be obtained at http://ujsportal.pacourts.us/DocketSheets/MDJ.aspx.

The meeting link will be sent to participants upon registration. To register email ccch@comcast.net

Mobile Home Reassessment

United Way of Chester County, in partnership with Legal Aid of Southeastern Pennsylvania is offering assistance to mobile home owners in Chester County to file for property tax reassessment appeals. They will do all the work and pay the fees on behalf of the homeowners in the program.

Your mobile home depreciates over time, but the tax authority won’t lower your assessment unless you appeal. In their pilot year, they helped 177 of your neighbors in the Honey Brook and Downingtown area. On average, these residents each lowered their assessment by 70% and their taxes in 2020 will amount to 30% of what they owed in previous years.

HOW IT WORKS

Fill out and return the following flyer, also found here. Include all the ways we can contact you. We will schedule your appointment starting in Spring 2020 and take it from there!

You tell us about your home at a 30 minute appointment and we do the rest.

We complete and file your appeal, pay for the book value (appraisal) and county filing fees, and attend the appeal hearing for you. You don’t even have to face the appeal board! We do that!
