To mitigate the spread of the CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19), the PA CareerLink Chester County and United Way Financial Stability Center is currently closed. In the event you need to reach them, you may leave a message at 610-280-1010. They will be checking voicemail and returning messages as soon as possible. Claimants should direct all unemployment claim (UC) inquiries to the Unemployment Office at 1-888-313-7284. Any additional changes to PA CareerLink Chester County’s operating schedule will be posted on their website at https://www.pacareerlinkchesco.org/.

The Youth Services Staff at the Chester County Library and Hankin Branch are presenting Virtual Storytimes beginning April 27th. They will be for three different ages groups — 0 to 2 Year Olds, 3 & 4 Year Olds, and 5 & 6 Year Olds. Registration is required via the Events Calendar at https://chescolibraries.org/. Virtual Storytimes are not registered as multi-week sessions; you will need to register for each storytime individually.

Kids’ Update: TrueFlix

Would you like to learn about something new?  Check out TrueFlix!  TrueFlix is an online resource that encourages non-fiction reading and research.  It’s the perfect thing for curious kids!  You can read a book, watch a video, and get links to more information on specific topics in 21 different categories.  There are also lesson plans and quizzes available, but don’t tell your Mom!  Just go to the Kids Button at www.chescolibraries.org and then click on Connect.  Don’t have a library card?  Scroll down for the post about getting an e-card.

Illegal Lockouts – Know Your Rights

In response to the corona virus emergency, many courts are closed and no evictions are being processed at this time. As a result, landlords may attempt to remove tenants illegally for nonpayment of rent or other reasons. Legal Aid of Southeastern PA can help you to file an emergency petition with the courts. 

What do you do if you’re illegally locked out?

• Call the police. Show them proof that you are a tenant.

2019 tax deadline extended

The Treasury Department and the Internal Revenue Service are providing special payment relief to individuals and businesses in response to the COVID-19 Outbreak. The filing deadline for tax returns remains April 15, 2020. The filing deadline for tax returns has been extended to July 15, 2020.
