They need help with sewing masks, donating materials, sewing machines, donating time to pick up and deliver masks. This group of volunteers has made and donated thousands of masks in 3 weeks to our county’s essential workers and community organizations that are working hard to make a difference during these difficult times.

Library Journal‘s recent article “Ambient Pleasures and More: 9 Sounds Libraries to Whisk You Away” connects you with options, including the New York Public Library‘s new album Missing Sounds of New York, sounds from various libraries (including University of Oxford’s Bodleian Libraries), sounds from nature, historical recordings, imagined sounds from Hogwarts Library, and more!

Kids’ Update: Nature Trivia with National Geographic Kids

Learn more about your favorite animal or have your nature questions answered at National Geographic Kids! With nonfiction articles and information, games, and videos, National Geographic Kids has something for all the kids in your family!

Here’s a story about an animal that will never make the cover of National Geographic — Quackenstein Hatches a Family.

The Youth Services Staff at the Chester County Library and Hankin Branch are presenting Virtual Storytimes beginning April 27th. They will be for three different ages groups — 0 to 2 Year Olds, 3 & 4 Year Olds, and 5 & 6 Year Olds. Registration is required via the Events Calendar at https://chescolibraries.org/. Virtual Storytimes are not registered as multi-week sessions; you will need to register for each storytime individually.

Teen Update: Author Matt de la Pena Writing Challenge

Popular Young Adult author Matt de la Pena (“I Will Save You”, “Superman Dawnbreaker”) is also an acclaimed picture book author. Matt believes that picture books are not just for children and he is right! In two short videos Matt reads aloud his picture book “Love” and talks about thoughts and ideas behind its words and illustrations. Then he offers you a writing challenge to share your own interpretation of the story. Your response will be sent to Matt and also published in Words Alive! online gallery.
