Join us for Medicare 101- Discover Your Options, Monday, October 19, 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

If you will be joining the ranks of Medicare soon, are already in the Medicare system and have questions, are helping a friend or relative obtain Medicare coverage, or just want to understand what Medicare is all about, this session is for you. Learn about Medicare A, B & C; the drug benefit (Part D); the types of health care insurance available in Chester County; benefits available to low income beneficiaries; and things to consider when selecting your medical coverage. APPRISE is Pennsylvania’s free, unbiased health insurance counseling program.

World Mental Health Day – October 10 – valuable resources for you

Today is World Mental Health Day, observed with the overall objective of raising awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilizing efforts in support of mental health.

In addition, the World Health Organization will host, for the first time ever, a global online advocacy event on mental health. World leaders, mental health experts and celebrity guests will join WHO Director-General, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, to tell the world what we can all do to improve our mental health and how we can help make sure that quality mental health care is available to everyone who needs it. Hankin Whodunits Mystery Book Club to meet via Zoom on Wednesday, October 21

The Hankin Whodunits Mystery Book Club will meet via Zoom on Wednesday, October 21 at 1 pm to discuss Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier. Copies of Rebecca  are available at the Henrietta Hankin Branch Circulation Desk while supplies last.

The classic Gothic suspense novel by Daphne du Maurier — winner of the Anthony Award for Best Novel of the Century — is now a Netflix film starring Lily James and Armie Hammer.

The novel begins in Monte Carlo, where our heroine is swept off her feet by the dashing widower Maxim de Winter and his sudden proposal of marriage. Orphaned and working as a lady’s maid, she can barely believe her luck. You are invited to meet Dora Lewis (as portrayed by Carol Spacht), National Woman’s Party Ratification Chair, to learn more about this important moment in women’s history. Dora Lewis, a Philadelphia reformer and suffragist, dedicated her efforts and social position to political action, pressuring the government to pass the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution.

October Virtual KClub

Need a new hobby to keep your spirits up while we’re all social distancing?  Been watching K-Dramas for years and want to meet new K-Drama lovers?  Love BTS but don’t know much about Korean television?  Break out the kimchi and join us to watch an episode of one the hottest Korean shows, then pop onto a Zoom call to chat about the show, the newest Korean music, and Korean culture – all from the comfort of our own homes.

On October 24, from 6:00pm – 8:00pm, we will be watching the pilot episode of “Another Miss Oh.”  Two women, both named Oh Hae Young, keep running into each other’s lives.  Between sharing the same school as kids and sharing the same career as adults, not to mention their issues with men, their lives are an entangled mess.  When one man, who can see glimpses of the future, becomes involved in their lives, he will have to choose which Oh Hae Young he wants to be with.  And both Oh Hae Youngs will have to learn how to separate themselves in order to live their lives as their own people.
